Marie Tatti
A singer-songwriter, actor, and dancer steeped in traditions of Black American performance art, healing, and liberation, Marie Tatti has over 20 years of artistic experience. She studied acting at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts High School in Washington, D.C. and in the acting conservatory at Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University.
Marie Tatti played the principal role of Lauren in Octavia E. Butler’s Parable of the Sower: the Opera, adapted by musician-activists, Toshi Reagon and Dr. Bernice Johnson Reagon. Her other performance credits include Vow of Silence (film) and Dear Ex, the Musical by Be Steadwell; and Annie Salem: An American Tale, a musical written by Tony award-winning director, Rachel Chavkin and award-winning composer, Heather Christian.
Marie Tatti has received numerous awards for her continuing artistry, including the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities Fellowship Grant and a Diverse City Grant for her role as co-producer of the Garden Concert Series: an outdoor farm-to-table dinner concert series featuring Black Folk musicians and highlighting local farms.
Marie Tatti continues her family’s rich legacy in the arts with a deep regard for community wellness, using art to bridge performance, nature, and healing.
