Marie Tatti
Singer-songwriter, actor, and dancer steeped in traditions of Black American performance art, healing, and liberation, Marie Tatti has over 20 years of artistic experience. She studied acting at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts High School and then trained in the acting conservatory at Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University.
Marie Tatti played the principal role in Octavia E. Butler’s Parable of the Sower: the Opera, adapted by Black American folk musicians, Toshi Reagon, and her mom, Dr. Bernice Johnson Reagon, who founded the internationally acclaimed a cappella group, Sweet Honey in the Rock. Other performance credits include Vow of Silence (film) and Dear Ex, the Musical by Be Steadwell; and Annie Salem: An American Tale, written by tony award-nominated director, Rachel Chavkin, with music by Heather Christian.
Marie Tatti has received numerous awards for her continuing artistry, including the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities Fellowship Grant, and a Diverse City Grant for her role as co-producer of the Garden Concert Series: an outdoor farm-to-table dinner concert series featuring Black Folk musicians and highlighting local farmers.
Marie Tatti continues her family’s rich artistic legacy with a deep regard for community service, using art to bridge performance, land activism, and wellness.
